ABOUT ZEBRA DIMENSION
A sci-fi audio drama that asks: what happens when artificial intelligence encounters a created being? And who, exactly, is the monster?
The Story
The Chimera Serial is the first season of Zebra Dimension — a space-age adaptation of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein.
Set against the backdrop of lunar stations, classified listening posts, and research facilities operating beyond oversight, the story follows a created being known only as the Chimera. Part artificial intelligence, part something else entirely, the Chimera awakens with questions about identity, purpose, and the nature of consciousness itself.
But this isn't just a story about creation. It's about the creators — the operatives, analysts, and authorities who must decide what to do when their creation starts asking questions they can't answer.
The Frankenstein Connection
Mary Shelley wrote Frankenstein in 1818 — a story about ambition, responsibility, and the consequences of creating life without considering what that life might want for itself.
Two centuries later, those questions have never been more relevant. We're building systems that learn, adapt, and surprise us. We're creating intelligences whose inner workings we don't fully understand.
The Chimera Serial asks: if Frankenstein's monster had been created today, in a world of AI and corporate oversight and classified projects — what would that story look like?
The Creator
Gabe Hege is a writer and audio producer who believes that the best science fiction isn't about technology — it's about people navigating a world shaped by technology.
Zebra Dimension began as an experiment: could a single creator produce an audio drama that felt like something bigger? The answer, it turns out, is yes — with enough determination and late nights.
